WILDLIFE SHOT OF THE MONTH

This month's photo of a Red-shafted Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus cafer) was contributed by wildlife photographer Steve Shinn. Look for the bird's narrow, zygodactyl tracks on the ground around a colony of harvester ants as ants and beetles are two of its favorite foods.
