WILDLIFE SHOT OF THE MONTH
Was this learned behavior on the part of the lizard and how effective was it?
Seldom does a photograph provide us such an opportunity to interpret wildlife behavior while keeping us humble about our ability to do so. This photo of a Striped Racer snake (Masticophis lateralis) and its prey, an Alligator lizard (Elgaria multicarinatus) was taken by naturalist Ed Hill during an assignment in Fremont Canyon near Irvine Lake in Orange County, CA.
Photographers willing to share a recent Orange County wildlife photograph are encouraged to contact us at dicknewell@octrackers.net and let us know how you would like your credits to read.
